Sensako Announcement: Continuity of Seed Supply During COVID-19 Lockdown
25 March 2020
Dear Valued Customer,
The current global and national state of emergency and lockdown (effective 27 March 2020) resultant from the COVID-19 pandemic has raised many questions. At Sensako we have taken steps to mitigate any risk to stakeholders by implementing policies and actions that are in line with the recommended safety and health precautions for COVID-19.
CRITICAL CONTINUITY OF SEED SUPPLY AND DISTRIBUTION
The seed industry is critical to food security and falls within the “critical business continuity services to support the health and safety of South Africans”.
Statements in support of this from the South African National Seed Organisation (SANSOR) and Minister Thoko Didiza - the Minister of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development - are available on the Sensako website. You can find these in our “Knowledge Centre News & Articles” section at http://www.sensako.co.za/news.
Sensako will be allowed to carry out all essential seed related services such as seed production, cleaning, packing and the distribution of seed including laboratory services.
SENSAKO WILL THEREFORE CONTINUE WITH NORMAL SEED SALES AND DISTRIBUTION ACTIVITES THROUGH THE COVID-19 LOCKDOWN.
· We are already hard at work to secure our 2020 seed supplies and anticipate little to no impact.
· There is no change to the seed ordering procedure. Please forward seed orders through the normal channels. Should you have any questions or problems, please contact Pieter Craven at pieter.craven@sensako.co.za of 082 388 0299.
· Seed for the South African 2020 growing season is being delivered to points of sale and customers for planting as usual.
· Should there be any future changes to local contacts or processes, you will be speedily notified.
Please be advised that all Sensako personnel have been instructed to comply with the recommended safety and health precautions together with social distancing protocols prescribed for COVID-19.
A copy of Sensako’s COVID-19 policies are available on the Sensako website at http://www.sensako.co.za/news.
THANK YOU
I would like to take this opportunity to personally thank you for your business and for partnering with Sensako. We remain committed to your success and to minimising any potential disruption through this difficult period.
